National Day in Uppsala – Music, Culture and Community at Vaksalafesten
Celebrate Sweden’s National Day on June 6 at Vaksalafesten – a vibrant, free event for everyone in Uppsala! Organized by Uppsala Konsert & Kongress, Musik i Uppland, and Uppsala Municipality, the festival also marks the launch of “Sommar på UKK,” where Vaksala Square transforms into a lively, creative meeting place open to all throughout the summer season.
The program features an exciting lineup of performances, including acclaimed opera and musical star Malena Ernman and celebrated singer and actor Philip Jalmelid, joined by the Uppsala Chamber Orchestra and Trio X under the direction of conductor Christoffer Nobin. The stage will also welcome the legendary comeback of the Gottsunda band Labyrint, bringing their unique blend of hip-hop and reggae, as well as sing-along moments with the pop choir Joyvoice between performances.
Please note that most of the event will be held in Swedish, so a basic understanding of the language may be helpful for following the program outside of the musical performances.
During the event, Vaksala Square will also be officially reopened as an event space, celebrating a new chapter for cultural gatherings in the city. Don’t miss this festive day filled with music, community, and summer vibes in the heart of Uppsala!
