Welcome to Uppsala International Hub
Research shows that 8 out of 10 international talents who leave Sweden do so because their partner or family never truly settled – not because of the job itself. For employers, this means that retention is about more than work. It is about belonging, family wellbeing, and social connections.
Every year, more than 3,000 international talents and accompanying partners in arrive Uppsala. Through 150+ activities each year, Uppsala International Hub strengthens networks, connections, and a sense of belonging. We act as a bridge between companies, academia, and the international community.
How we support you as an employer
Uppsala International Hub knows that several key factors help people feel at home in a new country. They need support upon arrival—finding housing and banking, accessing reliable information about Sweden, exploring employment opportunities, and building social connections. To address these needs, we have developed four dedicated service areas:
SetUPP – settle in seamlessly. We help your international employees and their families manage the practical side of relocating to Uppsala, including housing guidance and understanding the rental market. For employees with an employment contract, we can also assist with opening a bank account while they wait for their personal number.
InfoUPP – stay informed. We make Swedish systems easier to navigate. Through webinars and seminars on pensions, healthcare, schooling, culture, driving licenses, and more, your employees receive clear, reliable information directly from relevant authorities.
SkillUPP - engage in employment. We strengthen career development for your international employees and their accompanying partners. With job-search workshops, bi-annual career training programs, and networking events, we support professional growth and improve long-term stability for the whole family.
MeetUPP - make new connections. We help your employees build a social network in Uppsala. Monthly activities such as coffee mornings, city tours, book clubs, museum visits and international afterworks foster community, reduce isolation and support a sense of belonging beyond the workplace.
