Christmas at Uplands
Dates: 24 and 25 December 2025
Time: 12:00–22:00 for both days
Location: Uplands Nation (S:t Larsgatan 11, Uppsala)
Admission: Free
Every Christmas, the Uplands Nation house becomes a cozy meeting place for Uppsala’s international community; researchers settling into their new roles, students staying over the break, and professionals who’ve made Uppsala their temporary or long-term home. The tradition started back in 1969 with a handful of students who couldn’t travel, and it’s grown into one of the city’s most welcoming holiday gatherings.
Local restaurants donate the food, volunteers handle the warm atmosphere, and the whole event stays relaxed, inclusive, and alcohol-free. Each year, people from all over the world drop by—sharing a meal, trading stories about their countries’ holiday customs, and discovering new connections in the process.
From noon to ten on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the nation house buzzes with friendly conversations, familiar and unfamiliar traditions, and that comforting feeling that Uppsala can be home, even when your real one is far away.
