Welcome to our Swedish for Expats complete beginner's course!

Are you interested in studying Swedish? Or have you started studying but feel like you are not progressing quickly enough? Are you highly motivated to take your language skills to the next level? Then this course is for you!

Uppsala International Hub and Grow Internationals have partnered up to offer an intensive Swedish language course in Uppsala. The ‘Swedish for Expats’ course is designed for those who want to learn the basics (A1) and are keen to advance in a fast-paced, highly interactive course. The course will be one group of maximum 12 people and will focus on helping students become confident in basic Swedish and provide the tools needed for speaking Swedish in everyday life.

As space is limited, we ask that you fill out the short application found at the bottom left of this page before 15 January 2024. Applicants will be notified about acceptance into the program by 17 January 2024.

Who, what, when, where, how much

Who: The program is available to internationals living in Uppsala who are keen to learn basic Swedish. All are welcome to apply, but due to limited number of places, not all applicants will be accepted.

What: Participants will be expected to take part in the entire program (12 sessions) in order to build the best possible environment for networking and learning.

When: The course will be comprised of 12 sessions over 6 weeks, from 29 January until 6 March, meeting twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays on 16-17:30 or 18-19:30. The course includes a total of 24 lessons as each session includes two 45-minute lessons. The schedule is as follows:

Week 5: January 29 & 31

Week 6: February 5 & 7

Week 7: February 12 & 14  

Week 8: February 19 & 21

Week 9: February 26 & 28

Week 10: March 4 & 6

Where: This series will be held in Uppsala city centre at Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan. All sessions will be in-person, with no digital option. 

How much: This training is offered free of charge for those accepted. However, if you are accepted to the program and miss 2 sessions, you will be asked to pay a penalty fee of SEK 300.
